Data Access Policy

Effective date: September 24, 2026

The Setup Social brings people together through in-person social events and personality-based introductions. To do that, we ask you for some information about yourself, and you trust us to look after it.

This page explains that trust in plain language: what information we collect, who can access it and how we protect it, when it is shared, and how you can access, correct, or delete it.

Participation is voluntary. You decide what to share with us, and you can ask us to delete your information at any time.

For the full legal description of our data practices, see our Privacy Policy. This Data Access Policy is a plain-language companion to it, focused on access: who can see your information, and how.

1. What information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

2. How we collect it

We collect this information:

We record questionnaire responses when you submit them. You can leave the questionnaire incomplete, and nothing is finalized until you choose to submit.

3. How we use it

We use your information to:

Your questionnaire responses help us understand how you tend to think, communicate, and interact, so we can make thoughtful introductions. The questionnaire is not a clinical or psychological assessment, and an introduction is never a guarantee of compatibility or any particular outcome.

4. Who can access your data, and how we protect it

We limit access to your information to the people and systems that need it to run The Setup Social.

Authorized personnel

Members of our team who operate events and facilitate introductions may access your registration details and questionnaire responses for those purposes. We grant this access on a need-to-use basis, and our team is expected to treat your information as confidential.

We do not publicly display your full questionnaire responses, and we do not hand your full responses to other participants simply because you have been introduced (see Section 5).

Security measures

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. These include encrypting information in transit and, where appropriate, at rest, and controlling who on our team can access participant information.

No method of transmitting or storing information electronically can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so while we work hard to protect your information, we cannot promise absolute security.

5. How we share your data

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell or rent participant lists to dating companies, advertisers, or other businesses.

With your match

When we facilitate an introduction, we may share limited information about you with the other participant, such as your first name, your nickname, and personality characteristics or points of connection drawn from your questionnaire responses. We do not share your full questionnaire responses, and we do not share your phone number as part of an introduction. After an event, we may help exchange phone numbers or other contact details only when both people have said they want them shared.

With service providers

We rely on trusted providers to operate parts of our service, and they access your information only as needed to provide those services to us. These currently include:

These providers are subject to their own privacy terms and process your information on our behalf.

When required or permitted by law

We may disclose information to government authorities or others when reasonably necessary to comply with the law, or to protect the rights, safety, security, or property of The Setup Social, our participants, venues, providers, or others.

6. Event photography

We may photograph and record our events for promotional, marketing, social media, website, and advertising purposes, and by attending you acknowledge this may occur. If you would prefer not to appear in promotional photography or video, let us know and we will make reasonable efforts to honor that for future use, though we cannot guarantee you will never appear incidentally in background or crowd footage. A registration profile photograph is separate from this promotional photography. For more detail, see our Photo & Video Policy.

7. How you can access, correct, or delete your data

You are in control of your information. Depending on applicable law and the nature of your request, you may ask us to:

To make a request, email us at help@thesetup.social. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests, and we may retain information we are permitted or required to keep, such as transaction records. Administrative or transactional messages relating to an event, registration, payment, or a security issue may still be sent when reasonably necessary.

8. Our principles

Participation is voluntary. You choose what to share, you can stop at any time, and you can ask us to delete your information.

Your privacy is not for sale. We do not sell, rent, or broker your personal information, and we do not use your questionnaire answers to target you with advertising.

We collect what we need. We ask for information in order to run events and make introductions, not to build a profile of you for other purposes.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Data Access Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the effective date above, and where required by law we will provide additional notice.

10. Who we are and how to reach us
